[22 May 2008|01:38pm] I am not really the kind of guy who believes in God, and you all know that, but today I am convinced that somebody is looking out for me. Let me explain - as you may know I have been working security down at SouthCenter Mall since October. And as you also may know, I absolutly fucking hate the job. BUT - it is easy money and I am the master of slacking off. Now, I took the job after working for the State Parks last summer - down at Lake Sammamish in Issy and its satellite parks to be specific, and was running out of money. A month ago I turned in my application to work at the Park again and was turned down in the most heart wrenching manner possible: mere hours before I went there, the Ranger in charge of hiring had filled up the summer time roster and not informed the Rangers on duty that day. So I left the Park thinking I was in only to get a devastating call a few hours later saying, "sorry, we flubbed up - you were one person too late." Well - today I got a phone call saying that someone had dropped out of the Park Aide position and that is was now MINE ALL MINE. Thank You Karma. I have learned a valuable lesson in NOT procrastinating and am going to turn in my application for fall graduation for BCC in 2 days. +_+

[07 Feb 2008|11:29pm] It's interesting to see all the young people becoming interested in politics. Honestly, all this enthusiasm and energy makes me feel like an old man. I got so into politics in high school and caught up in 2004 and the manufactured idealogical divides in the nation. But you know, everything I have learned since then about the economic order in the world, how governments really work, the history of various things - it makes me extremely cynical. I need not post anything on the state of human rights in the world and the US's role in that area since-ww2 (modern era). I feel that Obama is the only choice right now and that he has the possibility to be what baseball aficeanados call "the set-up man" his priorities and policies proposals fall uniformly to the right of my person beliefs. But . . . . the idea that he can change the political culture in Washington, unite our nation, restore or imagine around the globe (HUGELY IMPORTANT) etc - I think he can set the stage and build a foundation for a truly progressive Presidency to follow his own. That is about as hopefull as I get. If I was a betting man, and I am most definetly NOT, I would put money on a Hillary/McCain contest with a McCain victory. We will, most likely, see a further erosion of our ideals under his leadership. My bet is that the 21st Century will witness the decline and destruction of pax-americana and the rise a more regionalized world. The key to prosperity does not lay in the 50 United States - it is in the hands of the rest of the world. Now, I have always been a glass-half-empty type of person and I tend to take a so-called 'gloomy' outlook on events, though I would consider myself to be a pure realist. My message is simple: go out and causcus for Obama, but seriously, dont expect the whole country or world to change for the better any time soon. 7 +_+
